UP-W Metra trains stopped in Villa Park after freight train strikes pedestrian

VILLA PARK, Ill. (WGN) – Union Pacific West (UP-W) inbound and outbound Metra trains are stopped near Villa Park after a freight train hit a pedestrian Thursday afternoon.

Metra issued an alert regarding the incident and said extensive delays are expected.

The Villa Park Police Department said there is currently police activity near Ardmore Avenue and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks, adding that the intersection is blocked and will remain closed for an unknown period of time.
