The Will County Emergency Management Agency, Wilmington Fire Protection District, and Wilmington ESDA, in coordination with the National Weather Service, are monitoring conditions on the Kankakee River as temperatures rise and ice conditions gradually change.
While no immediate impacts are anticipated, officials remind residents that river ice can be unpredictable, particularly during periods of warming. As a precaution, residents are advised to avoid going on the river or on the shores.
