Mail theft investigation at Tinley Park Post Office

The Village of Tinley Park reports multiple cases of mail theft involving altered checks dropped off at the Tinley Park Post Office at 7230 W. 171st St. Residents discovered that payee names and check amounts had been changed and fraudulently cashed.

The Tinley Park Police Department, working with the United States Postal Service, has identified a postal employee as a person of interest. The individual has been interviewed but not charged.
