Police save woman from submerged vehicle in Hoffman Estates

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. (WGN) – Police officers in Hoffman estates rescued a woman from a partially submerged vehicle late Wednesday afternoon.

The Hoffman Estate Police Department said just before 5 p.m., officers were sent to the 5300 block of Prairie Stone Parkway at the northwest corner of Hoffman Boulevard and Pratum Avenue to investigate reports of a vehicle submerged in water.

When officers arrived, they found a vehicle partially submerged in a retention pond and a man outside of the vehicle. Officers then learned the woman behind the wheel was trapped and unresponsive, prompting them to immediately go in the water, according to investigators.

Police said one officer cut the driver’s seatbelt and removed the woman from the submerged compartment while other officers helped bring the woman to shore. They then performed life-saving measures on the woman before the Hoffman Estate Fire Department arrived and took over medical care…
