The Manhattan Fire Protection District responded to multiple motor vehicle crashes Monday morning across Manhattan and Peotone as hazardous road conditions created dangerous travel conditions throughout the area.
Several crashes occurred within a short period of time, requiring firefighters and paramedics to manage multiple incidents simultaneously while monitoring deteriorating roadway conditions.
One of the crashes occurred north of the intersection of Route 52 and Baker Road and involved a Ford F-250 pickup truck equipped with a snowplow and a small SUV. Emergency responders quickly assessed the patients and provided lifesaving care, and one patient had to be extricated.
