Pre-trial release denied in Villa Park domestic homicide case

A DuPage County judge has denied pre-trial release for Brian Hernandez, 28, of Oak Forest, who is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the death of his estranged wife, Estefania Abril-Hernandez. Authorities say Estefania was found dead on March 19, 2026, at a home on Ingersoll Road in Villa Park, with a vacuum power cord wrapped around her neck.

Hernandez was taken into custody earlier that morning after being stopped by Illinois State Police while driving Estefania’s car. He was already on pre-trial release for a prior domestic violence-related charge and had an active order of protection against him…
