Naperville-Aurora Fire Alert: Prescribed Burn Near Big Woods Forest Preserve From 9 AM to 5 PM Tuesday Evening

Aurora, Illinois – Smoke could reduce visibility within minutes for drivers near Big Woods Forest Preserve today as a planned burn operation ramps up through the afternoon hours.

According to the Aurora Fire Department and the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, a prescribed burn is underway east of Eola Road between Butterfield Road and Bilter Road, beginning at 9 a.m. and continuing until about 5 p.m. Tuesday. Winds out of the south-southwest will push smoke north and northeast at times, potentially impacting nearby roadways and neighborhoods.
