Yorkville council to consider data center agreements Tuesday

The Yorkville City Council on Tuesday could vote on annexation and development agreements for the Project Steel data center. The council meets at 7 p.m. at Yorkville City Hall, 651 Prairie Pointe Drive.

On the agenda is annexation, a planned unit development, and a utilities agreement for the proposed 550-acre data center located south of Galena Road. The proposal includes 16 two-story buildings, a reduction from the originally proposed 18.

Also on the agenda is the rezoning of the Meyer property, south of Corneils Road and east of Beecher Road, to M-2 zoning, which would allow for a data center. The petitioner, Yorkville Nexus LLC, has dropped a request to rezone the portion of the property adjacent to a nearby subdivision…
