One person was killed, and two others were wounded when gunfire erupted at a family party in south suburban Will County early Sunday, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies arrived to find a large crowd and multiple gunshot victims; three people were taken to area hospitals, and one later died at a hospital in Olympia Fields. Investigators described the shooting as an isolated, domestic incident and said there was no ongoing threat to the public.
According to FOX 32 Chicago, deputies responded around 1 a.m. to the 27000 block of S. State Line Road in Crete Township after reports of a large fight and an apparent shooting. The St. John, Indiana, Police Department, the Crete Police Department, and both the Crete Township and Crete fire departments assisted at the scene, the sheriff’s office told the station. Officials have not released the name of the person who died, and no arrests have been made as of early Sunday.
