Aurora Men Charged In Shooting Incident

Two Aurora men have been charged following a reckless discharge incident that occurred early Thursday morning in Aurora.

According to police, at approximately 12:48am officers responded to multiple ShotSpotter alerts in the 500 block of East Downer Place and 100 block of North Union Street. Evidence of gunfire was located at both scenes, and video footage of the incident was obtained during the initial response. Using License Plate Reader (LPR) technology, authorities identified a vehicle matching the description in the area.

Approximately 30 minutes later, officers located and stopped the suspect vehicle. A 9mm handgun was observed in plain view and recovered. Officers also recovered spent shell casings from both shooting locations, and preliminary investigation determined the casings were consistent with live ammunition found inside the vehicle.
