Threatening voicemails to multiple Naperville schools under investigation

The Naperville Police Department is investigating a series of phone calls made Tuesday evening, threatening violence to multiple schools in Naperville School District 203.

Superintendent informs the school community

Superintendent Dan Bridges emailed the school community, informing everyone of voicemail messages left for the main office, including threats of bombs and weapons. “[They] are part of a concerning regional trend involving identical recordings sent to various school districts over the last several days,” he said in his email.

The NPD didn’t comment any further on the nature of these threats but did confirm that “several schools in our jurisdiction received similar voicemails with threats of planted explosives and the use of firearms.”

The police department “has found no evidence to support the threats being credible,” Commander Rick Krakow told NCTV17 in an email. “Other local jurisdictions have received similar threats recently, but the trend appears to go well beyond the Chicagoland area.”…
