Skokie Woman’s Claim Of ICE Detention Was A Hoax, Wisconsin Sheriff Says In Defamation Lawsuit

CHICAGO — A Skokie woman fabricated an elaborate story about being detained by immigration officials upon arriving at O’Hare Airport, according to a Wisconsin sheriff who has filed a defamation lawsuit against the woman and an elected official who shared the story.

Supporters of Sundas ‘Sunny’ Naqvi said the 27-year-old and five other people — all legal residents — were detained for 30 hours by Customs and Border Protection agents upon arriving at O’Hare March 5 from a work trip to Turkey.

At a press conference attended by multiple elected officials, her supporters claimed the group was taken to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Broadview and later to the Dodge County Jail in Wisconsin, where they were released the morning of March 7, allegedly spending nearly 43 hours in custody…
