A pair of best friends from west suburban Downers Grove were hanging out when they decided to buy some Illinois Lottery tickets.
The decision paid off — to the tune of a half-million dollars, in fact.

Joseph and Bryan (last names not given) often play lottery games with a group of neighborhood friends, according to an Illinois Lottery news release. This time it was just the two of them, and they decided to focus on higher-jackpot games by purchasing FastPlay Twenty 20s tickets.
And they scored the $518,309 jackpot.
“We were being intentional about the games we chose that night,” Bryan said in the release. “When the winning message popped up, it took a second to sink in. We just stared at each other, shocked and in disbelief.”…
