BEVERLY — Nearly a month after the Archdiocese of Chicago announced Rev. James Donovan would be leaving St. Barnabas Roman Catholic Church after nine years at the helm, parishioners are still shocked by the decision.
Donovan announced the archdiocese’s decision during Mass the weekend of March 21. He will serve as pastor at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Orland Park starting in July.
Rev. Homero Sánchez will pastor both St. Barnabas, 10134 S. Longwood Dr., and Christ the King, 9235 S. Hamilton Ave., where parish administrator Bishop Mark Bartosic is leaving to become the archdiocese’s director of vocations.
