Flood Warning issued due to rising Fox River levels, sandbags available

ALGONQUIN, Ill. (WGN) — Rising water along the Fox River in Algonquin has prompted a flood warning for parts of Kane and McHenry counties, with levels expected to surge in the coming days.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued the warning for the Fox River at the Algonquin tailwater after the river reached 11.18 feet at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

With the flood stage set at 9.5 feet, levels are now high enough to cause serious problems for low-lying areas.
