A beachfront resort in Marco Island sees growth potential so great it wants to double the number of rooms.
The city’s planning board says the Hilton Marco Island Resort and Spa’s request for a rezoning to Planned Unit Development (PUD) isn’t the right way to get to 626 rooms with a new tower and a parking garage – it should seek a comprehensive plan amendment, says Director of Community Affairs Dan Smith.
Owners of the Hilton and their attorney will try to persuade the Marco Island Planning Board on Friday, July 31.
