Starke, FL – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed a death warrant for Harold Gene Lucas, a death row inmate convicted of killing his 16-year-old girlfriend and attempting to kill two other teenagers in Lee County nearly five decades ago.
Lucas, 74, is scheduled to receive a lethal injection at 6 p.m. on Sept. 1 at Florida State Prison near Starke.
He was convicted in February 1977 of first degree murder in the death of Jill Piper and two counts of attempted murder stemming from the August 13th, 1976, shooting at Piper’s Bonita Springs home…
