Note to readers: The Naples Daily News and the News-Press are producing a series of stories this week about traffic and transportation in Southwest Florida. We are calling our coverage “Traffic Week”. Readers have responded with their concerns. A few of those comments follow:

Immokalee Road a mess

No question in my mind, Immokalee Road east and west must be awarded honors for the worst driving conditions in SWFL. Going west toward the entrance to I-75, and east at any time after 2 p.m., you are likely to encounter lumbering tomato trucks on the way to or from the processing plants, cement mixers, huge carriers lugging earthmoving equipment or tons of sod, dump trucks spewing black diesel smoke (which likely have not been inspected for a decade), landscaping trailers pulled by trucks, Dodge Chargers darting from the left to the right lanes (only to be held up at the multiple stop lights), school buses, motorcycles driving in between lanes, and just the regular standstill traffic of SUVs and sedans from residents and visitors!
