“The whole first floor was wide open,” Nancy Penoyer, one of the nine first-floor condo owners, told Naples Daily News.

The HOA has been working to repair the first-floor condos at the Naples, Florida, complex after Hurricane Ian caused major damage in the state.

The deadly storm made landfall on September 28, 2022, and flooded the entire first floor of the building.

More than 150 people died in the United States as a result of the hurricane and $112 billion in damage was reported, including $110 billion in Florida, according to the Naples Daily News.

Vanderbilt III residents say they haven’t been able to return to their units since the destructive storm wreaked havoc on the state.
