NCH Health: Cardiovascular care just got more advanced

I am excited to announce a significant advancement in cardiovascular care at NCH with the inauguration of the STEMI (ST-elevation myocardial infarction) center at NCH North Hospital. The STEMI center at NCH North is the second such specialized center at NCH, with the first one being located at the NCH Baker Hospital downtown. STEMI is a critical type of heart attack that occurs when a coronary artery is completely blocked, requiring immediate medical attention.

The two new STEMI labs were opened thanks to generous donations from The Telford Foundation and the Bill and Julia Van Domelen Foundation for the residents of North Naples and surrounding communities.

The new facilities come with a price tag of $4 million each and are staffed 24/7 with trained professional teams ready to move into action whenever a heart attack patient comes through the door. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one person dies from cardiovascular disease in this country every 33 seconds, making heart disease the leading cause of death.
