Plane crashed on I75 Naples, Florida

Two people lost their lives when a private plane carrying five people crashed into a roadway in Collier County, Florida, on Friday afternoon. The unfortunate trip started in Columbus, Ohio, and was supposed to terminate at the Naples Airport, with a detour to Fort Lauderdale coming next.

The pilot of the Bombardier 600 aircraft realized something was wrong on board and sent a distress call to Air Traffic Control at around 3:10 p.m. The airplane was unable to make it to the runway at Naples airport, which offered safety, due to the failure of both engines. The pilot recognized that he would not be able to reach the runway despite his best attempts to land.

A dash cam in truck driver Alfonso Del Nodal’s car records a terrifying series of events in which the aircraft is observed falling southbound on Interstate 75 before it crashes and bursts into flames upon contact.

Pilot Edward Daniel Murphy, 50, of Oakland Park, and co-pilot Ian Frederick Hofmann, 65, of Pompano Beach, were among the dead in the disaster. Both the aviation industry and their particular communities are empty after their passing.
