Question: How’d you get into swimming?

Layton: As long as I can remember I would watch my sister Havana swim at her practice, and as soon as I was old enough, around age 4, I was ready to join the team.

What’s been a highlight of your swimming career thus far?

Layton: Medaling in the 200 free relay with my teammates at the state meet last year and going to Rainbow Springs after the competition with my team are memories I will never forget.

Previous winner: NDN Athlete of the Week by Elevate Home Services winner for Sept. 2-7, Gulf Coast’s Jace Seyler

Do you have any sort of a preswim routine before a meet?

Layton: I like to visualize my races in my head thinking about every detail of my race, as well as go to a pasta party hosted by one of the NHS team members the day before every meet.
