According to FOX 35 Orlando, despite her conviction on the charge, Nix was acquitted of aggravated manslaughter after a jury trial in Polk County to ensure impartiality. Her sentence was announced nearly two-and-a-half years after the November 1, 2022 incident, when temperatures soared into the 90s.
During the sentencing hearing, both Nix’s daughter, Kaila Nix-Schock, and her son-in-law, Drew Schock, expressed deep emotional distress.
