Fake religious group asks to pray with Florida resident, then burglarizes home: deputies

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. (WFLA) — Authorities in Lee County are looking for a trio who they said posed as a religious group to earn a local homeowner’s trust and then burglarized their home.

The three suspects are believed to have gone to the victim’s home on Carolina Street in Bonita Springs on the evening of April 10.

Deputies said two of the suspects asked to pray with the homeowner, and while the homeowner was distracted, the third suspect went inside and began rummaging through the residence.

According to authorities, she ended up stealing $3,500 in jewelry and an unknown amount of cash. The woman then snuck out the side door and fled in a white vehicle, officials said.
