Marco Island City Council: Goehler admits to ethics violations, agrees to accept fine

Marco Island City Councilwoman Tamara Goehler entered an agreement with the Florida Commission on Ethics, admitting she violated ethics laws and agreeing to a $5,000 fine and to conduct herself appropriately in the future.

Goehler entered what is called a stipulation agreement Monday, May 5, according to records obtained by the Naples Daily News.

Goehler, who was elected in November 2024, was accused of using her position to try to influence what was in a police report following a December dog-bite incident. Her dogs got loose from her home on Richmond Court and bit a neighbor’s child and puppy. Marco resident Fiona Winter of Perine Court filed the complaint with the ethics commission, which, on April 30, found probable cause that Goehler did “misuse” and “abuse” her power…
