Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island hosts summer luncheon

Calusa Garden Club of Marco Island held an informal June luncheon June 9 at Margarita’s, where 15 enthusiastic attendees gathered to share their love for gardening and nature.

Discussions included pollinator plants for butterflies and bees, plant containers, tips on growing vanilla orchids, cultivating a cocktail tree, causes of hibiscus plant bud drop, using eggshells to deter snails and preparation for the garden club’s upcoming Fall Festival/Plant Sale.

Calusa Garden Club members also participated, June 6, in the luncheon for Little Pink Houses of Hope on the Marco Island Princess. They prepared table centerpieces with shells, greenery and pink carnations. The photo shows the members and some of their creations…
