Worker who helped save girl from shark attack faces deportation

NAPLES, Fla. (WWSB) – A Collier County man hailed as a hero last month for helping rescue a 9-year-old girl bitten by a shark in Boca Grande is now facing deportation, multiple sources are reporting.

Luis Alvarez was one of three men working at a house near the beach June 11 when the girl’s hand was severely injured by a shark while the family was snorkeling.
