The Sanibel City Council will consider an amendment to prohibit gas powered leaf blowers at their meeting today. The ban has been in the works for years but paused due to the recent hurricanes. The reason for the ban is the devices are too noisy.
If the ban is approved gas powered leaf blowers will be prohibited on the island unless waived in relation to a future weather event that results in a declaration of a state of local emergency.
