Now You Know: Historical Society ignites ‘Summer of Giving’; fees waived to adopt a pet

The Marco Island Historical Society is dedicating this year’s “Summer of Giving” campaign to funding needed maintenance at the Marco Island Historical Museum.

“Working together as a community, the dream of a world-class museum to showcase and share Marco Island’s unique history became a reality. Now we need the community to help us keep this dream alive,” said MIHS CEO Pat Rutledge. “Since opening in 2010, we have welcomed 300,000 visitors to our award-winning museum. However, from the stories of the Calusa people to the pioneers who helped shape modern Marco, every story we share relies on one crucial element. We must present a well-cared-for museum to bring it all to life,” she adds.

Maintenance includes caring for exhibits, painting, lighting updates, climate control maintenance, grounds upkeep and more…
