Home Base Florida, Shy Wolf work with veterans for wildlife encounters, volunteering

A group of Southwest Florida veterans had a visit with the animals at Shy Wolf Sanctuary Education & Experience Center in Naples and made a difference at the captive-bred exotic animal rescue center by making planter boxes for the sanctuary.

Shy Wolf partnered with Home Base Florida, a local non-profit dedicated to supporting veterans, military families, to bring the veterans in to participate in Shy Wolf’s Healing Hearts Program. The program gives its guests a visit to the sanctuary to experience an animal encounter, learning about how they were rescued and how they live the rest of their lives here at the sanctuary.

After the visit, participants work on art projects from painting wolf houses to making holiday ornaments, or as was the case with the veterans in June, building planters for the sanctuary’s entrance…
