1. PANTHER KITTENS: Killed on Davis Boulevard in Naples

The kittens still had their baby spots and were likely nursing at times, even as their mother began teaching them to hunt and explore the wider world.

Aug. 10, the two became the 11th and 12th Florida panther deaths this year noted in Florida’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Panther Pulse, the agency’s running birth and death tally. Cause of death? Vehicle, the agency reports.

Their bodies were found on Davis Boulevard near Naples Heritage Golf and Country Club, on different sides of the road. The FWC did not immediately provide details about the deaths…
