It could happen in early 2026, according to Collier County Commission Chairman Burt Saunders, who has been spearheading the project for several years.

He updated the board at its Aug. 26 meeting about the project status, how design work is progressing and how the state VA will soon have the OK to start spending $74 million allocated from the federal government for the project…
