DOGE and Marco Island

I’ve just learned of Marco Island’s Assistant City Manager Casey Lucius’ scolding City Council. It seems she objects vehemently to council’s inviting the Department of Government Efficiency, (DOGE), to examine Marco’s administration for possible “improvements.”

DOGE is a voluntary federal service offered freely to local governments by Uncle Sam. It often results in ‘cleaning house’ efficiencies and saving money. Ms. Lucius’ strong objections to the inspection reminds me of the modernized Hamlet line: “Methinks the lady doth protest too much!”

Like yesteryear, that line still suggests that, yup, unsupported whining just might mean something’s here that won’t pass inspection. Possible?…
