More than 1,200 volunteers turned out to protect Collier County waterways during an International Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, Sept. 20, removing more than two tons of debris in one day. Similar efforts were made in communities around the world.
“We are pleased to see more grassroots support showing up, with local businesses rallying team members for a fun and impactful morning. This year’s event logged more than 3,800 volunteer service hours to collect 4,100 pounds of trash from our waterways,” said Larry Berg, president of Keep Collier Beautiful.
