St. Matthew’s House is sharing the personal stories of 10 individuals and their journey from homelessness to hope for the future in the exhibit “Faces Beyond Homelessness” through the eyes and talents of Naples artist Wendy Wagner.
The exhibit is open to the public at the Wendy Wagner Fine Art Gallery, located in the Naples Art District from Oct. 10 through November.
Faces Beyond Homelessness features beautiful and moving charcoal and red chalk portraits and preliminary sketches done by Wagner as participants shared their stories. Wagner has sensitively captured the many telling expressions seen during the sharing of each story.
“I’m so grateful to be a part of this exhibit,” says Wagner. “Before I moved to Naples, I was involved in a program in Philadelphia where I taught art to students from an organization called Project Home that was created to end the cycle of homelessness. It seemed like synchronicity when St Matthew’s House found my work. I hope my drawings can tell the stories of resilience, strength and hope that the participants so willingly shared in order to further the mission of St Matthew’s House.”…
