Teen Returns To Florida To Face Charges In Arson That Left Another Teen Hospitalized

A teenager has returned to Florida to face arson charges in connection with a July incident that left another teenager hospitalized, after his family moved away to California, authorities said.

The Collier County Sheriff’s Office said 18-year-old Jack Viola turned himself in last week after a warrant was issued for his arrest on felony charges of arson causing great bodily harm and second-degree arson to a structure in connection with the July 10 incident.

Viola was with a group on an overnight fishing trip when the teenage victim’s truck ran out of gas in the early morning hours of July 10. The victim filled the gas tank on a residential street, spilling some of the gas on his clothes and the road. According to investigators, a video shows Viola using a lighter to “intentionally” set the gasoline-soaked ground on fire…
