What would you do if you had a contract for work and the invoice came in $100,000 more? That’s a decision Marco Island City Council members have to make on its fiscal year 2024 audit.
The audit was submitted to the state of Florida on time on June 30 but took 90 days longer than expected to be completed and left the city council surprised by the finding of material weaknesses, weaknesses that led to the finance director’s resignation after 18 years.
