Based on the environment Friday night, Oct. 17, the 52nd annual Coconut Bowl could’ve very well been the Super Bowl – at least for one side.
With high expectations and a sizeable crowd to show for it, Lely was beyond hungry to snap a 15-game losing streak to Naples. The chatter, and the expectation for that matter, was that this would be the year that the Trojans beat their bitter rival.
