Collier County’s YMCA is growing. The faith-principled organization is adding to its south campus on Marco Island and putting new focus on the older adults who live in the community.
A new 17,000-square-foot building is under construction on Marco Island’s 9-acre campus, and the fundraising campaign is 75% to its $8.5 million goal. We recently met with YMCA of Collier County President/CEO Cindy Love-Abounader and Director of Development John Riley to talk about the planned active life center and tour the site.
Set to be completed in mid-2026 and open in the fall, the new building will join the two existing buildings to house an expanded fitness center, a cafe, a gym that can be partitioned for different activities – maybe a yoga class in one area, mahjong in another and a small meal community gathering in another, Riley said.
