Southwest Florida is getting a new golf sanctuary and it won’t resemble anything else in the region.
The Hoffmann Family of Companies announced last week that it’s partnering with world-renowned architect Kyle Phillips to design Pandion Club, a members-only, golf-only facility on the site of the former Old Corkscrew Golf Club in Estero. With a target opening in late 2027, the course promises to be a purist’s dream: no real estate, no resort guests, just 280 members and a heathland-style layout inspired by English Golden Age masters Harry S. Colt and Tom Simpson.
“We’re confident that Kyle Phillips is creating something truly special, an inspiring sanctuary that reflects the unique terrain of our region and elevates every aspect of the game,” said David Hoffmann, Chairman of Hoffmann Family of Companies.
For the Hoffmanns, who already own the prestigious Old Collier Golf Club in Naples and more than two dozen other businesses including the Florida Everblades hockey franchise, Pandion represents a deeply personal project. The club’s name pays homage to the osprey (Pandion haliaetus), the majestic birds of prey that soar above Florida’s coastlines and estuaries. David Hoffmann established Osprey Capital LLC shortly after founding DHR Global, the firm that became the foundation for Hoffmann Family of Companies, and it remains one of the family’s key investment vehicles.

Phillips Returns to His Roots
For Phillips, the project offers a chance to showcase the architectural style that launched his career. The California-based designer, whose portfolio includes World Top 100 courses like Kingsbarns Golf Links in Scotland and Yas Links in Abu Dhabi, studied the heathland masterpieces of England’s Golden Age before establishing his own firm in 1997.
