FORT MYERS, Fla. — Tuesday is now a Gulf Coast Weather Impact Day as temperatures are expected to fall into the 40s across Southwest Florida. A strong cold front is forecast to push across the region early next week, ushering in the much colder air. Morning lows may trend close to 20 degrees below average in some places.
Many locations will be getting close to tying or breaking low temperature records Tuesday morning. The record low for Fort Myers on Nov. 11 is 41 degrees, set in 1956. Punta Gorda has a record low of 44 degrees set in 1943, and the current forecast calls for the temperature to fall below that. The forecast low for Naples for now is only one degree shy of the record of 47 degrees set back in 1993.
Unfortunately, we will have to factor in a wind chill Tuesday morning as well, and some places may feel like they’re in the 30s because of it.
Abundant sunshine will try to help warm things up Tuesday, but highs look to only reach the 60s that afternoon.
