Marco Island Farmer’s Market makes chilly return

An arctic train of Canadian air blasted into Southwest Florida last week, causing temperatures to drop more than 30 degrees. This area typically sees lows in the 60s and highs in the 80s in early November.

“It was 45 degrees this morning at Naples Airport this morning (Nov. 11),” said George Rizzuto, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Miami, the office that develops forecasts for the Collier County area. “It’s still preliminary but the previous record was 47 in 1993. So, it would break the record by a couple of degrees.”

Rizzuto said this type of front is typically reserved for December and January, the peak of the winter season here…
