Rotary Club Hears About Children’s Advocacy Center

Alicia Shannon is CEO of The Children’s Advocacy Center, whose mission is to create a safe and nurturing space for children affected by abuse and neglect, where they can share their stories, heal, and thrive with comprehensive support. She helps lead the agency in its strategic plan, sets the tone and cultural framework, and serves as the main external voice.

The Children’s Advocacy Center is 1 of 26 in the state of Florida, with over 900 centers nationwide. This branch of CAC is one of the largest in Florida and was founded in 1981. It serves Lee, Charlotte, Hendry, and Glades Counties. The CAC provides a Child Protection Team, Family Advocacy, Family Alliance, Prevention, Community Awareness, and Outreach/Beesley’s Paw Prints. All of the services are free.

In the past year, they provided 755 medical exams, 2,375 hours of therapy, and served 7,588 people in Southwest Florida…
