Celebrate Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Naples

The annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade and festivities are Monday, Jan. 19, gathering at Cambier Park in Naples at 10 a.m. with the parade beginning at 11 a.m. on Fifth Avenue South. This is the 29th annual event hosted by the Collier County NAACP, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

“’Change does not roll in the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle,’” Collier County NAACP officials said in an event statement, quoting King in honor of his legacy of inclusion and diversity.

Speakers, music and festivities continue throughout the day at Cambier Park, after the parade, which will include high school marching bands, floats, businesses, nonprofit organizations and residents gathering in honor of the civil rights activist…
