Collier board objects to orange grove conversion, seeks alternatives

Collier commissioners continued a hearing on a controversial proposal to replace a decades-old citrus grove with hundreds of homes in eastern Collier County.

After a more than six-hour hearing on Jan. 13, commissioners stopped short of rejecting the project, encouraging the landowners to explore other options.
