Sports CLUB to build athletic complex in eastern Collier County

Sports CLUB has grown from providing active care for six children a day to almost a thousand. Now the non-profit is looking to double in size and serve children from an underserved area eastern in Collier County.

“The mission hasn’t changed just the facilities and the number of kids we have helped,” said CEO Lane Beatty. “We want to recreate the old neighborhood that we grew up in with a bunch of neighborhood games.”

Beatty and Chief Operating Officer Bill Carufe are now looking to bring their after school and summer programs to Ave Maria.

“Between 951 and Immokalee, there is no great facility. What indoor space is there for kids? Nothing,” Carufe stressed. “So where can you go to a summer camp in the rain and the heat. There is nothing. We wanted to serve that underserved area of the county.”…
