The Naples mayor has agreed to plead before her trial was to begin Feb. 16.
Teresa Heitmann’s attorney Derek Verderamo on Feb. 13 filed a motion in Collier County Court for the mayor to plead no contest in abstentia. A no contest plea means a defendant will not fight the charges and does not admit guilt, accepting the conviction and sentencing.
