Naples’ moving business strong nearly 60 years

One of the longest standing businesses in Naples is an African American-owned business—Cleveland Bass Movers. Among the top five most recognized, oldest businesses still in operation in Naples, Cleveland Bass Movers is up there with Kelly’s Fish House Dining Room, founded in the 50s; the Cove Inn of 1961; Pastrami Dan’s of 1975; and The Dock at Crayton Cove of 1976.

While many people have come and gone from Collier County over the years, the Bass family stays strong. It’s fitting to check in with the Bass family descendants anytime and even more so during Black History Month, to continue sharing their insights and family’s unique perspectives over the years.

Cleveland Bass Movers has roots in Naples going back to at least 1969. The 57-year-old company was started by Cleveland Bass, and is run today by his stepson, grandchildren and great grandchildren…
