Now You Know: Parks update; ‘Nature Night’ and a classroom makeover

“We continue our efforts to repair, rebuild, and upgrade all parks in District 1,” LoCastro writes. “Besides reopening Caxambas Park on Marco Island and the 951 Boat Launch on Collier Boulevard near the entrance to Isles of Capri – after both being destroyed by Hurricane Ian … our park efforts continue.

“We have made many improvements to Tigertail Park – but due to the deterioration of a decade or more … and multiple hits it has taken during hurricanes and recent storms; that effort is a ‘massive lift’ … and we are working it and continue to make fixes and improvements to that location — with much more coming.”

LoCastro also mentions Donna Fiala Eagle Lakes Park, just off U.S. 41. “Previously we re-did the pool area, refurbished the pool ladders, replaced pool furniture and replaced old nasty vending machines long past their life expectancy. We have now also repaired and resurfaced the walking/riding paths, added more trash receptacles, and made improvements to lighting. If you haven’t made a visit in a while to one of our many parks in District 1 … it’s worth a trip!”
