Naples is a subtropical climate where fruit trees, flowering plants and lush foliage can thrive. Driving around town can almost make homeowners think they can grow anything in their yard.
But it’s still important to follow the “right plant, right place” principle. Knowing what plants will do well, what needs sun or shade, and how a plant will handle mild, dry winters and hot, wet summers is key.
“People move here with the mindset that the landscaping plants will react like those up north,” says Fabio Willers, landscape manager and designer with Driftwood Garden Center. “But we have to teach them how to use our plants.”…
